Can GOP Use Trump’s Name?

Can GOP Use Trump’s Name?

“No more money for RINOs,” President Trump declared in his fundraising email on Monday night. The term RINOs, standing for “Republicans in name only,” is used in the condemnation of moderate GOP politicians who vote in line with Democrats. “I fully support the Republican Party and important GOP Committees, but I do not support RINOs and fools.”

Trump is now guiding supporters to his own new political action committee, Save America.  Even though he lost the election, Trump continues to hold the loyalty of the majority of GOP voters and is asking them not to sponsor “people that do not have the GOP’s best interests in mind.”

Instead, he asserts the only way to sustain the America First movement is to give contributions directly to his Save America PAC and through his web site. Supporting this, the three top Republican Party committee leaders commended Trump for vowing to support them.

“We look forward to working with President Trump to retake our Congressional majorities and deliver results for the American people,” Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Rick Scott and National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Emmer said in a joint statement.

“The RNC, NRSC and NRCC are grateful for President Trump’s support, both past and future,” the statement reads. “Through his powerful agenda, we were able to break fundraising records and elect Republicans up and down the ballot.”

This statement displays how securely Trump has a clench of the GOP, despite harshly criticizing leading party members and steering money away from the GOP.

The America First PAC was created after the Nov. 3 election and has raised tens of millions of dollars so far. The PAC grants Trump the right to use the money as he sees fit, including allocating allowances to himself and family.

“It’s entirely possible Trump could use Save America both to maintain control and influence over the Republican Party and also to benefit himself and his family members personally,” Brendan Fischer, director of the Federal Reform Program at the Campaign Legal Center, told CNBC.

While promoting the Save America PAC to voters, Trump made the demand that his name and likeness no longer be used by the GOP in fundraising endeavors. His lawyers highlighted this demand by sending each of the three GOP committees a cease-and-desist letter.

His demand was rejected by J. Justin Riemer, chief counsel of the RNC, who concluded that the committee “has every right to refer to public figures…and it will continue to do so in pursuit of these common goals.”

Wednesday’s statement from the RNC, NRSC and NRCC appeared to demonstrate that the GOP remains willing to invoke Trump’s brand in its fundraising messages.

  3. I agree with President Trump. Since 3 years ago, I have not donated to either of the Republican groups. I only donate to the person of MY choice. No ess am I going to put my money on a pot that will be shared by the likes of Romney, McKlowski, McCain and others that sided with the Democrats to impeach him…!!!

  4. President Trump, you will forever be my President who did more for the Americans than any other President and under a great degree of duress, the likes of nothing Americans have ever experienced before. You are a true Patriot that deserved a second term. History will not be kind to the Democrats like Pelosi, Schumer and all the other Democrat criminals! They will pay a price!!

  5. Any of the politicians who are anti-Trump and anti-American should not be allowed to use his name in their ads.

  6. I don’t want to support any politician who is not interested in putting America first. If they can’t support President Trump’s agenda then they don’t need to share his supporters money. See if the democrats will share their cash. Freaking RINOs.

  7. Hello my fellow patriots ! My name is Kenneth H. Frazier or just plain Ken. I’m a young eighty-three old patriots that loves American and not ashamed to shed a few tears because of the way that our country is heading under democratic rule. I am the one, and there could be others that recommended to President Trump For the name of our party to be changed to the Patriot Party instead of the Republican party. In a recent statement, president Trump stated that we didn’t need a third party and I agree with this; However, my recommendation was off with the old and on with the new. Otherwise just change the name from Republican to Patriot. We would still only have a two party system. It’s time for a new day USA. If you agree with me I ask that you help me promote this recommendation to our past and soon to be our president again. GOD BLESS AMERICA .
