Three accusers, one with photographic evidence – sounds like the beginnings of a trial that would end in a guilty verdict. The court of public opinion is in session, and based on the allegations made against New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, NY residents may be turning against him.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has been accused of sexual harassment by three women, the latest being Anna Ruch who worked for the Biden-Harris campaign, the Department of Energy during Obama’s second term, and Instagram, and earned her Masters degree from Oxford University.

Cuomo holds Ruch’s head in his hands, as captured in a now infamous photo taken by her friend, and asks her, “Can I kiss you?” “I felt so uncomfortable and embarrassed when really he is the one who should have been embarrassed,” said Ruch.

Ruch is the third woman to allege Cuomo of sexual misconduct and has compelled members of both parties to call for his resignation. “… Cuomo can resign tonight,” Kim said. “Not tomorrow. Tonight,” Democratic New York State Assemblyman Ron Kim demanded on Twitter.

Democratic State Senator Alessandra Biaggi stated, “As a New Yorker, a legislator, Chair of the Senate Ethics and Internal Governance Committee, and a survivor of sexual abuse, I am calling for Governor Cuomo to resign.”

The first to report Cuomo’s misconduct was a former staffer of his, Lindsey Boylan. “As I got up to leave and walk toward an open door, he stepped in front of me and kissed me on the lips,” describes Boylan of Cuomo’s initial misconduct towards her in 2018. “I was in shock, but I kept walking.” She also reports that he would inappropriately touch her arms, lower back, and legs, kiss her while alone in the office, and once asked her to a game of strip poker.

“I thought, he’s trying to sleep with me. The governor is trying to sleep with me. And I’m deeply uncomfortable and I have to get out of this room as soon as possible,” said Charlotte Bennett, another accuser, who was an executive assistant and health policy adviser. “He is a textbook abuser. He lets his temper and his anger rule the office, but he was very sweet to me for a year in the hope that maybe one day when he came onto me I would think we were friends or that it was appropriate or that it was okay.”

“Gov. Cuomo is a criminal sexual predator, and he must immediately resign,” said Republican State Representative Elise Stefanik after reading of Bennet’s accusations. Cuomo’s misconduct is being condemned by both sides of the aisle.

“When a woman comes forward with these kinds of very specific allegations, we have to take them seriously. We need a full and independent investigation,” said Democratic New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio in his call for an independent investigation.

“I now understand that I acted in a way that made people feel uncomfortable. It was unintentional and I truly and deeply apologize for it,” Cuomo said on camera. “I feel awful about it, and frankly, I am embarrassed by it . I understand sensitivities have changed. Behavior has changed. I get it and I’m going to learn from it.”  When all the dirty laundry is aired and reports are filed, let’s see if New York wants him to go, or given a second chance.
