Brett Favre Says “It’s Hard to Believe” that Chauvin Meant to Kill George Floyd

Soon after Derek Chauvin was found guilty on all counts in the murder of George Floyd, Pro Football Hall of Famer Brett Favre said he did not think the former Minneapolis police officer meant to kill Floyd.

“I find it hard to believe, and I’m not defending Derek Chauvin in any way. I find it hard to believe, first of all, that he intentionally meant to kill George Floyd,” Favre said. “That being said, his actions were uncalled for. I don’t care what color the person is on the street. I don’t know what led to that video that we saw where his knee is on his neck, but the man had thrown in the towel.”

Favre made the comments despite the fact that he himself has often urged pro athletes to stay out of politics and not to comment on hot button social issues.

Favre, 51, also responded to the heat he received last week for saying that politics should be kept out of sports before then calling players kneeling for the national anthem “a shame.”

“I just gave my opinion. I’m certainly not a racist in spite of what some people might think, and you know, I’m for unity, and I just feel like there’s a better way to unify our country. That being said, there’s a lot of things that need to stop,” Favre said.

The former quarterback’s comments on Floyd’s death prompted some heated backlash online, with one disgruntled Twitter user writing, “It’s just interesting how the always racist Brett Favre condemned Colin Kaepernick for peacefully taking a knee to bring attention to both racial injustice and police brutality, but is now coming in the defense of killer Derek Chauvin who used HIS KNEE to murder a black man.”

Another added, “I believe brett Favre is a racist person and should shut his mouth.”

Meanwhile, basketball legend LeBron James deleted a Tweet he posted condemning the officer in the shooting of an Ohio teen. The Los Angeles Lakers star tweeted a photo Wednesday afternoon that appeared to show the officer who was involved in the shooting of Bryant with the caption: “YOU’RE NEXT #ACCOUNTABILITY.”

The backlash was swift, with Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., accusing the NBA champion of inciting violence against a police officer.

“This is disgraceful and dangerous,” he tweeted. “Is the NBA okay with this? Is Twitter?”

James, who has used his platform as one of the world’s most famous athletes to become a leading voice on social justice issues, tweeted that he took down his original post because it was “being used to create more hate.”

In another follow-up tweet explaining his decision to delete his original post, James suggested he may have let his emotions get the better of him.

“ANGER does any of us any good, and that includes myself! Gathering all the facts and educating does, though!” he tweeted. “My anger still is here for what happened that lil girl. My sympathy for her family and may justice prevail!”

The case is being handled by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and Columbus authorities said they would be limited in their comments. But Interim Police Chief Michael Woods told reporters Wednesday that department policy allows officers to shoot if it is believed that someone’s life is in danger.

  1. As usual , THE RABID racists come out of the termite infested woodwork to call “out a racist” . The problem is , that THOSE WHO call out or use the “race card” , are indeed THE RACISTS .ANYONE who uses a word to describe their skin color ad nauseam IS A RACIST . ANYONE who declares another race RACIST , is indeed THE RACIST . To say any WHITE man or woman , is RACIST because they happen to be WHITE , well children , what we got here are three year olds in the sandbox being BULLIES .
What one describes as being “afro-American” , who never set foot on or near the continent of Africa , is THE RACIST . They neither know history of Africa ,The United States , or even their own family . I happened to meet a Christian Missionary who was stationed in Cameroon for 14 years. Her family has to return very so often for legal status , according to U.S. Law. It was shortly after “Roots” was shown on the T.V. She related how she witnessed Black American families coming to Cameroon to get back to “their roots” . How excited they were to get to visit “Africa” for a month or more. Then after two weeks , all of these “Black American Families” became distraught and disillusioned that NO BLACK AFRICAN cared about them coming over , much less having “anything in common ” with these “Black American Families” . In less than three weeks , these same families were leaving “behind their roots” with no hint of finding a “root” .
If you feel this post is in error . Get out your books on “Liberia” , and see for yourself how Liberia has fared . From the beginning till now .

  2. this “martyr” killed himself, pure and simple. had he not tried to scam the store with the fake $20 bill, and not ate his stash like he did before, he would still be here. but, he decided he would take a gamble again, and get his stomach pumped. this time, however, it didn’t work. there was no “knee on his neck”, as the race baiters would like you to believe. this fool complained of shortness of breath in the police car, was taken out, and put on the ground. the video’s clearly show the knee was on his clavicle. the prosecutions own m.e. said there was no bruising, petechia, broken bones in the neck or eyes to indicate any pressure at all was present on his neck. the fact that he had underlying heart conditions, ingested enough fentanyl to kill an elephant, and had other drugs in his body led to his death. this was a career criminal, starting at a very young age. he got away with a lot of stuff, but this last gamble he crapped out, literally. the jurors in this case were doxxed, their identities broadcast, their addresses made known, etc. they were completely compromised. the judge should have called a mistrial when this was done by I believe the N.Y. times, but allowed it to continue. then, Ms. Maxine (race baiter) Waters added her two cents in, as did the pResident who is currently squatting in the Whitehouse, prior to the verdict being made. these three things should have been immediate grounds for a mistrial. I do not understand why the judge allowed it to proceed. the jury was clearly fearful of what would transpire to them, their families, and their livelihoods if they brought a not guilty verdict. this is the biggest travesty of justice outside of the 2020 election steal, that I have ever witnessed in my 70 some years of life. now it seems, right is wrong, and what was always wrong, is acceptable. what has happened to this country? I will tell you. we have been taken over by thugs under the disguise of SYSTEMIC RACISM. there was no SYSTEMIC RACISM until it was introduced by the IMPOSTER IN CHIEF, Barack Obama. he tried and is still trying as the pResidents mouthpiece, to turn black against white. he is the one who said and introduced TRANSGENDERISM, and the fact that THERE ARE MORE THAN TWO GENDERS. why? ask Michael Lavon Robinson. this person has destroyed the progress we have made in this country since the 1960’s. thanks to blm, racism is alive and thriving. we are enraged at their actions. destroying business, killing innocents, looting with abandon. and the Vice President paying bail and encouraging their actions. these are impeachable offenses, just ask pelosi. oh wait, these are democrats who are doing this. they can’t be impeached. what a sorry mess this country is in. no hope as long as people like the above mentioned have a finger in the pie. Rest in Peace, beautiful America.

  3. A shame. Does any one in this world use common sense ? I find ir hard to believe that any one could beleve Chauvin INTENDED. to kill Floyd.
How nany murderers kill their victim on tbe street, in broad daylight, with witnesses who have camerasand dont try to escape? No doubt remains that Floyd s. Death was at chauvins hands, but not premeditated.

  4. It’s always interesting how some individuals view issues or happenings. Whenever someone wants another to shut their mouth it’s either that they disagree with the speaker or don’t want to hear the truth. We all can’t be in god’s shoes or sandals which ever in worn by our creator and if you don’t agree with that statement that is sad.

  5. Racism as defined by Meriam Webster dictionary is a belief that particular patterns of behavior can be ascribed to any individual based on the race of that individual. Therefore I contend Racism is wrong because it can be used for negative purposes and outcomes. Most don’t realize these ideals which are more about stereotypes aren’t really about race. The clear and stark differences between black and white Americans comes more from backgrounds and how we were raised and how we respond to daily life events. Biologically speaking we as a species share 99.7 % of our DNA. There’s very little biological difference between all races of humanity yet we as individuals see some vast differences on a daily basis. From my own personal observations I see that black Americans have a greater sense of community than do their white counterparts. When it’s said that all black people know each other that is considered a racist comment or even stereotype. It’s a ludicrous concept yet I’m often impressed that black Americans often do know others of the same race on a larger scale than myself and those I know. I could be wrong but in fact I’m envious of that ideal. We see violence from every walk of life yet daily I see young black Americans male and female resort to extreme violence to deal with their problems. That too could be considered racist or a stereotype but does it change the reality? I’m no expert on human behavior but logic tells me this comes not from the color of one’s skin but the content of their character. Our character is a direct result of the world we grow up in. The unfortunate reality of many,” clearly not all” black Americans is they grew up in extreme poverty. With extreme poverty comes an underground economy such as drugs gambling and prostitution. Sad but true. With these underground economies we see a major inclusion of violence. If one is dealing drugs and the deal goes bad you can’t call the police or settle it via the courts therefore the only solution is to either let it go or handle it yourself aka violence. This sort of behavior is scary to white suburban Americans who historically have had other options though as humans many resort to violence as well but with options it’s less likely than for those without. The violence we see from poorer black communities have to do with race only as it pertains to life in historically economically depressed areas. Unfortunately historically most of these communities are inherently black. That’s due to extreme racism over a two hundred years span. We must understand that hundreds of years ago black society in Africa was not nearly as developed as the white European people were as it applies to technology and society. They were dragged from their homelands either through a sale from their own leadership or downright force. Either way slavery was a stain on all humanity and not the realm of any specific race. Nevertheless our history of dealing with black Americans had been a shameful part of our history. JFK understood the issue more than any major politician since Lincoln and was making a difference in how we deal with the issues of racism. When he died much of that was lost and we now had one of the most evil presidents in office. Lyndon Johnson was a truly racist man and his policies are still plauging our race relations. He created the welfare state and left only one place for the black male American. That place was prison. He specifically excluded the black male from the home if that home recieved welfare. During the sixties a black man could hold a job but at a lesser wage than white males. Of course the workforce was still predominantly male. The result of taking the father out of the home had a significant impact on the youth in traditionally black communities. Every race when males reach a certain age revolt against parental authority. When there’s no father to guide them this leaves only the mother and we all know that mom usually doesn’t instill fear in a teen aged boy. At these times in our growth we don’t truly understand the consequences of our actions and this leads to bad choices. Combine generational poverty with a home with no authority and a young male can easily make a fatal error. Thus can lead to prison. Once in the prison system it becomes very difficult to overcome a lifetime of criminal behavior. This only has to do with race as it becomes common for the male influence in a young man’s life to be that of a career criminal based on the metrics by which they are forced to live. It’s not rocket science to understand that if you were raised in a home where the father is present and has never done a stretch in prison you are likely to follow that same path. Conversely the same applies to one who was raised in a home where the father is not present and had spent time in and out of prison. The point is these things are not race specific other than how it applies to the norms created by society. Logic then tells us that the color of one’s skin without societal constructs does not determine a proclivity in one direction or another. However with the societal constructs we can make certain assumptions based on the realities at hand. This is why suburban whites fear black Americans living in their neighborhoods. It has nothing to do with actual racism but more the understanding that blacks who have seen generational poverty and prison for their male role models as the norm simply don’t see the world in the same way as those who haven’t faced these challenges. If you hate based on color you are simply misinformed or you have personal issues but to discount what you know is ridiculous. I only see truth from my own perspective. I was raised in white suburbia in a town that borders East St Louis and that town is world renowned for its violence and criminality. Many other white Americans have seen the same. Even black Americans understand these realities evidenced by the fact that when they reach a level of income that allows them to escape these economically depressed areas they do so as soon as possible. Are they racist or are they just using common sense? Therefore these negative stereotypes are not because of one’s skin color other than the societal constructs by which they have lived yet the realities can not ignored. So the solution isn’t to shame white Americans nor is the solution to force people from vastly different backgrounds to live next to one another. It’s akin to putting the horse before the cart. Instead we need to economically develop these areas that create the negative stereotypes we see daily. When we raise the standards of living for those who have been damned by evil racist policies we can all see eye to eye and work towards the same goals as every human being wants. To raise our children in a safe environment free from hatred and blame. Until we stop with the handouts that nobody is happy with and create real economic opportunities in all parts of all cities we will continue to see the world in a very different way and that is not a recipe for successful racial harmony.
