X-Man Evan Peters to Play Jeffrey Dahmer in Upcoming Netflix Series

Even Peters, who played the superhero Quicksilver in Fox’s X-Men movie franchise, is swiftly moving in the opposite direction for his next major role. Peter has been slated to play notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in an upcoming Netflix Series.

The limited series entitled “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” is the brainchild of  Ryan Murphy (“Hollywood”) and his “Glee” collaborator Ian Brennan.

Peters, 34, is one of Murphy’s “go-to” actors and has appeared in several of his projects, including “Pose” and “American Horror Story.” Niecy Nash — the unforgettable star of another Murphy TV series, “Scream Queens” — has been cast as Glenda Cleveland, Dahmer’s neighbor. Cleveland had called the police server times to complain about Dahmer’s “crazy behavior,” but the police never believed her.

“Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” will be told from the perspective of the infamous serial killer’s victims. The plot will begin in the 1960s with Dahmer’s early life and end with his arrest in 1991. According to Deadline, it will also focus on Dahmer’s “white privilege” and examine ten instances in which law enforcement gave him “a free pass” after he “was almost apprehended but ultimately let go.”

Penelope Ann Miller is cast to portray Dahmer’s mother, Joyce, while two-time Oscar nominee Richard Jenkins (“The Shape of Water”) will play Dahmer’s father, Lionel. Shaun J. Brown will play one of Dahmer’s victims who fought back and managed to escape, ultimately leading to the killer’s arrest. Colin Ford is also set to play a character named Chazz.

“The Milwaukee Cannibal”

Dahmer murdered and dismembered 17 men and boys from 1978 until 1991. He was nicknamed the “Milwaukee Cannibal” and the “Milwaukee Monster.”  Aside from murder, he also committed necrophilia and cannibalism on many of his victims. He later died in 1994 at age 34 after being beaten by another inmate, Christopher Scarver.

This is not the first time that Dahmer and his crimes have made it to the screen. In 2002, a biopic starring Jeremy Renner, simply titled “Dahmer,” hit the movie theaters. Dahmer’s crimes were also depicted in 2017 when Disney Channel star Ross Lynch portrayed the murderer in “My Friend Dahmer.”

No air date has been given yet for “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.” However, it is currently in production, and given a return to a somewhat normal “post-COVID” shooting schedule, the 10-part series should hit the streaming giant sometime in Spring of 2022.
