Border Agents use Tear Gas to Stop Waves of Undocumented Immigrants

  29 Jul 2019

Border Patrol agents on Saturday used tear gas and pepper spray to stop a horde of undocumented individuals as they rushed a port of entry in Pharr, Texas.

Nearly 50 people were blocked as they attempted to cross the Rio Grande by way of the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge.

The group rushed the bridge in three waves, said one officer, beginning at 4:00 in the morning.

“Ignoring commands to stop, the group suddenly rushed the temporary barricades, bent metal poles, and disabled the concertina wire affixed to the barrier,” said the officer. “Several males in the group disregarded commands to stop and physically pushed through the barriers…When confronted by CBP officers, the combative individuals began assaulting the officers by punching, kicking, and attempting to grab the officers’ protective devices.”

At least 16 people were taken into custody; federal charges are pending against 14.

A similar incident occurred last November, when hundreds of migrants rushed a border fence in Tijuana. CPB agents used tear gas to disperse the crowd after they were attacked with projectiles.

This time around, migrants are frustrated by new policies which force asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their cases are processed in the United States. The new rule is part of a June deal with Mexico that seeks to limit the flow of Central American migrants through Mexico into the United States.

The Mexican government has promised to invest millions of dollars to improve migrant shelters, but most of these facilities are located in southern Mexico far from the US border.

Author’s Note: It is unfortunate that we are having to use tear gas to stop people from entering the country, but people need to know that they cannot cross the border by forming a mob and rushing in. If we let that happen, it will happen again, amplified by ten.

  1. If illegal immigrants will invade by force, what would they do if allowed to get through the barriers. More crime? Lawless people are not welcome in my opinion. Apply legally. Then come when approved. The United States is a country governed by laws (at least by most law abiding states). Penalize lawless states and cities and make them feel the effects of their bad choices.

  2. Those who assaulted the border patrol should b fingerprinted/photographed & have their dna taken 4 future ID..Never allowed in2 country except 2 pay 4 their crimes by digging ditches 4 the wall.

  3. If immigrants try to force their way into the United States illegally, what laws might they break once within the U.S.? They should apply for legal immigration. I would welcome legal immigrants gladly. I do not agree with sanctuary cities or sanctuary states. They are misbehaving with their poor choices and should feel some consequences.

  6. Hooray for the CBD stooping the onslaught of these outlaws trying to bust into our country. It’s clear that these people have no regard for law and order or those who stand for it. Lord only knows the crimes they would commit once in the country. Not to mention pushing the folks that do respect our laws and enter our country legally. It’s clear these boarder rushers want only to get what they want by any means they can. Lock them up and ship them back!

  7. Use stun grenades along with tear gas. If they persist, just shoot them!!!

  8. Seems they want to show up to be taken care of and have no interest in being good citizens. Send them back to where they came from! We don’t need those people!!

  9. The use of stun guns is not the way to go and just shoot them is totally out of the question !! Who ever made that comment has a loose screw and marbles for brains

  10. Time to punish Mexico for allowing this migrant to happen, That country by not protecting their borders is responsible for all of it. They are secretly forming a way to overcome this country at the american taxpayers expense. The american people have to stop giving in to the rest of the world.

  11. IT IS NOT UNFORTUNATE WE HAVE TO USE TEAR GAS, THE UNFORTUNATE IS THEIR COUNTRIES CANNOT TAKE CARE OF THEIR PEOPLES. IF TEAR GAS BECOMES INEFFECTIVE SHOOT THEM. THEY ARE ENIMIES OF OUR COUNTRY.

  12. Shoot their asses and make examples out of them. That would lol slow w down the next caravan. They are breaking the law and should be punished. You think Mexico would not shoot?

  13. We should shoot these motherfuckers dead as they try to cross our border. That will stop these assholes from coming.

  14. They are invading. if they were in uniforms we would shoot them. If it were a Russian army or Chinese army we would be shooting. This is a criminal army and it is the same thing. So shoot them. This is the problem of the stupid moron left making everyone so afraid of being honest about the situation. We fail to act as we should. This is an invading army of criminals. If they were Mexican Hells Angels gang members stampeding the border we would shoot. America must just be prejudice against Hells Angels, Russians, and Chinese.

There is no reason we are not defending the border from attack and this is clearly an attack. Shoot them and demand their home country pay us back for the time and resources, including the bullets. This is ridiculous.

  15. oUR GUYS HAVE NO CHOICE —ITS EITHERUS OR THEM AND WE CANT AFFORD TO TRUST THE ONE TRYING TO RUSH IN AND THE FACT THAT THEY ARE ATTACKING OUR PEOPLE — HAS TO BE STOPPED BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE.

  16. The article mentioned that there was 16 people taken into custody > I sure hope that they are prosecuted & returned to the border & denied any entry into the US > We sure don’t need troublemakers like these !!!
