Longshot Democratic Presidential hopeful, Andre Yang, has been out on the campaign trail making his case for the presidency and speaking about healthcare.

Yang recently spent some time taking his message specifically to Iowa voters. As reported by Sioux City local TV News affiliate KTIV, Yang stopped in Sioux City recently for the opening of his new campaign office there.

As KTIV reported “people from all around Siouxland came out in support of Yang.” He toured his new office and thanked his supporters for coming out, he then addressed them speaking on the things he would do as president.

“I’m running for president because I’m laser-focused on solving the problems that got Donald Trump elected. I’m the best position to take him on because I see the problems, I know what the solutions are and I can build a much broader coalition to beat him in 2020, I’m already peeling of thousands of disaffected Trump supporters,” said Yang.

He also touched on big topics like healthcare. “Healthcare is breaking our backs. We’re already paying for it through the nose. I’m for Medicare for all, but I would not get rid of everyone’s private insurance plan,” said Yang. “We need to out-compete those private insurance plans and show the American people that a public option is a better alternative.”

The Democratic dark horse candidate has said in previous recent interviews, that his version of Medicare for All could “exist to complement the current existing private insurance market,” and that his campaign would unveil a “more detailed roll-out of the full plan in the days to come.”

Yang’s campaign website currently lists Medicare for All as one of his three main policies, but does not outline in any kind of detail how he would implement his healthcare plan if elected president.
