Man Blocks Search For His Missing Girlfriend

In a quite suspicious act, a man whose missing girlfriend was last seen on his luxury yacht has denied access to authorities to search the vessel.

Sarm Heslop, 41, was reported missing on March 8. The attractive British woman was last seen aboard her boyfriend’s yacht in the US Virgin Islands, and now more than two weeks since her disappearance, cops say her boyfriend Ryan Bane won’t let them search his 47-foot luxury catamaran.

According to reporting by the NY Post and the Associated Press, the boat has remained moored — and off-limits to cops — off the coast of St. John as a massive search for Heslop continues.

“Soon after reporting Ms. Heslop missing, Mr. Bane acquired the services of an attorney,” the police said in a statement to the press.

“Upon his attorney’s advice, Mr. Bane exercised his constitutional right to remain silent and denied officers’ requests to search the vessel.”

Authorities would need a warrant to search the boat. But they can’t get one because Heslop’s disappearance has not, as yet, been ruled a criminal case.

“We thought we could just ask Mr. Bane to search the boat, and he would say yes,” police spokesman Toby Derima told the UK paper, The Telegram.

“But he didn’t.”

The couple went to dinner onshore and then returned to the yacht at 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, authorities have said. Ryan called local police at 2:30 a.m. the next morning, saying he had just awakened and realized Heslop was no longer on board, though her passport, purse, and her phone remained behind.

The cops told Ryan to call the US Coast Guard immediately. But Ryan allegedly waited until almost noon the next day to report Heslop’s disappearance to the US Coast Guard’s San Juan station.

The missing woman’s family is distraught and fear for her safety. They have urged British authorities to step in and help.

“We would like assurance that the authorities in the Virgin Islands are doing everything possible to find her and that the investigation into our beautiful and cherished daughter’s disappearance includes a comprehensive fingertip search of the boat,” family members said in a statement.

“We will never give up looking for Sarm, and we still have hope of finding her safe.”

The search for her continues. According to the website findsarm.com, set up by a long-time family friend, “Sarm is a Caucasian female, approximately 5ft 8ins, of athletic build, with long dark brown hair. She has a large, colorful tattoo on her shoulder depicting a seahorse, butterfly, and flower.”

The coastguard and Virgin Islands police department claim that they have carried out an extensive search of the ocean and the shorelines but are unable to find any traces or evidence that Heslop had gone into the water.

Heslop’s parents, Peter and Brenda, say that their daughter was a “seasoned traveler.”

  1. It he’s a “Democrat”, he’ll get away with the obvious crime he has committed.

  2. This is the same as Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner. He killed her and figures he can get away with it

  3. If she was just missing they shouldn’t be a problem searching the boat, unless he has something to hide the longer they wait just giving him a chance to get rid of evidence.
