Trump Snubs George P. Bush!

President Donald Trump has turned his back on George P. Bush.

There has been no loved lost between the families of Trump and Bush. In light of what former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush had to say about Trump and the jibes that Trump tossed at Jeb Bush during the bitter 2016 campaign, it’s a wonder why Jeb’s son would even seek approval from Trump.

And yet, George P. sought The Donald’s blessing in his bid for Texas Attorney General. However, instead, Trump has tossed his support behind current Texas AG Ken Paxton, rebuffing the incumbent’s primary challenger and Bush family scion.

Trump praised Paxton in a statement for being “bravely on the front line in the fight for Texas, and America, against the vicious and very dangerous Radical Left Democrats, and the “foolish and unsuspecting RINOs that are destroying our Country.”

“Ken is strong on Crime, Border Security, the Second Amendment, Election Integrity, and, above all, our Constitution,” the former president continued. “He loves our Military and our Vets. It is going to take a PATRIOT like Ken Paxton to advance America First policies in order to Make America Great Again. Ken has my Complete and Total Endorsement for another term as Attorney General of Texas. He is a true Texan who will keep Texas safe—and will never let you down!”

Bush, the Texas land commissioner, is the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, the nephew of former President George W. Bush, and grandson of former President George H. W. Bush. He announced he would challenge two-term incumbent Paxton last month and took aim at the Lone Star State’s AG over his mounting legal troubles.

“Enough is enough, Ken,” Bush said at his kickoff event. “You’ve brought way too much scandal and too little integrity to this office. And as a career politician for 20 years, it’s time for you to go.”

Bush echoed that theme when he tweeted in response to Trump’s endorsement of Paxton, “I’m running for Attorney General because Texans deserve integrity and honesty from the office of Texas’ top law enforcement official. Texans deserve a candidate without a laundry list of existing and potential criminal indictments.”

Last fall, eight of Paxton’s deputies resigned and accused him of abusing his office to help a wealthy donor by ordering an investigation into whether federal authorities tampered with warrants and illegally seized property during a search of the donor’s home. The FBI is reportedly looking into the claims.

Paxton is also awaiting trial on charges of securities fraud, to which he pleaded not guilty in 2015.

Even though he did not get Trump’s critical endorsement, George P. has been the only member of the Bush family to break with his father and famed uncle and embrace Donald Trump and his policies. George P. says he voted for the 45th president in 2016 and 2020. His attorney general campaign launch featured a beer koozie with an image of the two shaking hands at an event in 2019.

“This is the only Bush that likes me,” Trump said of George P., a quote immortalized on the koozie. “This is the Bush that got it right.”

Bush, who is endorsed by his grandfather’s former Secretary of State and White House Chief of Staff James Baker, as well as former Rep. Ted Poe (R-Texas), will go head-to-head with Paxton in a primary election sometime next year.

  1. Pres. Trump’s support of George P Bush would show that he is a better man of the rest of the Bush family. George P is the better man for the Job!

  2. People say and do anything to get elected. If he wins the runoff I’ll vote for him.

  3. The second in a row endorsement mistake by Trump – perhaps time to re-evaluate his advisers – The son should not be judged by the sins of the father – George P. is clearly his own man – his thinking is very much in line with that of Trump and Texas values. Texans love him. Let’s not misjudge just because his last name is Bush.

  4. Bushes are the epitome of R.I.N.O. I didn’t know politics had a genetic link?

  5. I don’t care what George P Bush says. In my opinion, he is a rat fink!! He is ruining the ALAMO. I am speaking for myself, not for the Daughters.
Daughters of the Republic of Texas took care of the Alamo for over 100 years and paid the expense themselves….he took it away and is now ruining it. We spent a lot to be able to retain our library. Had to prove all belonged to us.
Send him back to Mexico or Florida.
Ken has been great in his job.
